I Protest!!! Vigorously!!!!

  • Pink captures President Bush's callous disregard with heart-rending accuracy. This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
  • Jackson Brown's new song is fabulous! Lives in the Balance truly touches on the choices facing America today.
  • An Arlo Guthrie classic! You'd be amazed at how it fits our modern war ethics.
  • Bruce Hornsby's finest. We are treating the Katrina survivors the same way.
  • By Phil Ochs. Not what you'd think. He wrote it following the murder of three civil rights workers in the mid '60's. Still pertinent today, I fear.
  • This one's by Lindsay Buckingham. All hail the 4th estate!
  • Song by the late, great Harry Chapin. It references Vietman, but remains pithy.
  • By Bright Eyes. One of the best protest songs to come along in years.
  • From the musical, 1776.
Check it out - the reference may be Revolutionary War era, but the sentiment rocks!

Hi, and enjoyed your meme list. I just did the same this morning, having been tagged by Divajood. I'd love to see your library and show you mine! I'll bet we could suggest some great ones for each other. I'm also a life-long book-aholic, big time!

I love seeing other people's book lists - it gives me stuff to read!

Great list! After seeing Gore's film, I bought his book. And the Dune series was incredible for its Machevellain politics. Pern too. What a world. Thanks for being a good sport.

Oh Boy -- you really got me going this morning.
(1) What is the one book that changed your life?
It seems that every book I read has an impact on me --Recently it would probably be Angela's Ashes (I'm Irish) Before that, it had always been a story called By the Waters of Babylon which I read many moons ago in high school. Since then, I have always held dear the theme of that story: Too much knowledge can distroy a universe.
2) What is the one book you have read more than once? Who Moved my Cheese
(quick and easy - I love it)
(3) What is the one book you would want on a desert island? -- I've got to think of that for a while.
(I change my mind quite a bit)
(4) What is the one book that made you laugh?
The Gold Coast by Nelson Demille
(5) What is the one book that made you cry?
Try not to read too many of those -- ever since I read Love Story
6 & 7 (now my head hurts)
(8) What is the one book you are currently reading?
my aunt gave me Ladies of the Club ages ago and I never read it. Quite a long one -- thought I'd be able to get through it this summer. I'm having trouble though.
(9) What is the one book you've been meaning to read? Can't wait to get my hands on Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral - my girlfriend said it was fabulous.

The Minstrel Boy

here's mine. . .

we were totally sympatico on the "what's with this ONE book shit?" and spot on with #3. . .interesting what?

Minstrel Boy -- How are you? I can't get to your list. I'm curious about your picks. If you come back, let us know. Thanks
