I Protest!!! Vigorously!!!!

  • Pink captures President Bush's callous disregard with heart-rending accuracy. This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
  • Jackson Brown's new song is fabulous! Lives in the Balance truly touches on the choices facing America today.
  • An Arlo Guthrie classic! You'd be amazed at how it fits our modern war ethics.
  • Bruce Hornsby's finest. We are treating the Katrina survivors the same way.
  • By Phil Ochs. Not what you'd think. He wrote it following the murder of three civil rights workers in the mid '60's. Still pertinent today, I fear.
  • This one's by Lindsay Buckingham. All hail the 4th estate!
  • Song by the late, great Harry Chapin. It references Vietman, but remains pithy.
  • By Bright Eyes. One of the best protest songs to come along in years.
  • From the musical, 1776.
Check it out - the reference may be Revolutionary War era, but the sentiment rocks!

Peacechick Mary

I love that post! So well written and Good advice, too.

OWL, thanks for the reminder. Your friend probably had high LDL cholesterol, which might have been at a level that exercise alone can't reduce. He might have had a hereditary pre-disposition to heart attack too. But yes, his activity level probably saved his life. We all need to take care of ourselves.

The Fat Lady Sings

*sigh* True. But why can't exercising be like eating chocolate?

Peacechick Mary - Thank you. I had been thinking about another friend, that I should send her an email... probably for the last month. Today, I received an email from her! That was cool.

Diva Jood - Yes, you're right. He did have high cholesterol, but was on meds to control it. He said they had gotten it under control, so that was another reason he was so surprised.

The Fat Lady Sings - Ain't that the truth?!? I'm sorry for not placing the post in one of the categories. I looked at them and could not figure out which it belonged.
