I Protest!!! Vigorously!!!!

  • Pink captures President Bush's callous disregard with heart-rending accuracy. This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
  • Jackson Brown's new song is fabulous! Lives in the Balance truly touches on the choices facing America today.
  • An Arlo Guthrie classic! You'd be amazed at how it fits our modern war ethics.
  • Bruce Hornsby's finest. We are treating the Katrina survivors the same way.
  • By Phil Ochs. Not what you'd think. He wrote it following the murder of three civil rights workers in the mid '60's. Still pertinent today, I fear.
  • This one's by Lindsay Buckingham. All hail the 4th estate!
  • Song by the late, great Harry Chapin. It references Vietman, but remains pithy.
  • By Bright Eyes. One of the best protest songs to come along in years.
  • From the musical, 1776.
Check it out - the reference may be Revolutionary War era, but the sentiment rocks!

Well done, Sister.

The Fat Lady Sings

Do you know what happened? Was he ill? Was it an accident? I am gobsmacked. Why I only just heard from him a month or so back.

Apparently it was due to respiratory failure. Fixer noted that he was asthmatic. Other than that, I just don't know.

On another, brighter note, trying to find your internet radio show, help!

The Fat Lady Sings

Thanks honey - but it's not my radio show - its Maryscott O’Connor’s from over at My Left Wing. I'm a front pager there - and I wanted to promote Maryscott's show. She used to be one of us, you know - an actress. She's still able to speak well extemporaneously (as am I). I've considered Blog Radio. Been too busy of late to explore it (I was working on a political campaign). How about you? Your list of credits is formidable. Do you mostly write? Or have you been bitten by the acting bug at one time or another? I started out as an actor. My first gig was on a local kids TV show (Buckaroo 500). There are a lot of us entertainment types out here. Do you know Culture Ghost? He holds a film-making degree. Art is art – however you slice it!

Lurch's death is a tremendous loss. I do not know particulars, but was to have visited the week I got the news. Devastating. It was through him that I learned of you.

We will all be carrying on in his name.

The Fat Lady Sings

Lisa - I thought of you when I heard of his death. You knew him so much better than I. It has been quite a shock. I still can't quite process it. If there's anything you'd like me to post, just let me know and I will.
