I Protest!!! Vigorously!!!!

  • Pink captures President Bush's callous disregard with heart-rending accuracy. This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
  • Jackson Brown's new song is fabulous! Lives in the Balance truly touches on the choices facing America today.
  • An Arlo Guthrie classic! You'd be amazed at how it fits our modern war ethics.
  • Bruce Hornsby's finest. We are treating the Katrina survivors the same way.
  • By Phil Ochs. Not what you'd think. He wrote it following the murder of three civil rights workers in the mid '60's. Still pertinent today, I fear.
  • This one's by Lindsay Buckingham. All hail the 4th estate!
  • Song by the late, great Harry Chapin. It references Vietman, but remains pithy.
  • By Bright Eyes. One of the best protest songs to come along in years.
  • From the musical, 1776.
Check it out - the reference may be Revolutionary War era, but the sentiment rocks!

Jude

I was just about to send out the Mounties for a trip down south to find you! Damn it's good to see you posting again, and double damn that you've been in so much pain. :-(

Tears are often a "release" of emotions, whether anger or grief it gets it all out and helps me to move forward from there.

Or, I stuck my finger in my eye by mistake. LOL

The Fat Lady Sings

Bless you, sweetie!

It's been a bitch. Hard to think sometimes. I want to say thanks for all your wonderful support. You are a goddess!!!

Often, with your work I must wait days for the voice to express reaction to the depths of your insight. It is rare these days to be stunned by 'writing.' After all we live in a cynical, worldly fin de siecle that can only hurl the weight of baroque impressions or decorative mannerism at the exhausted heart and brain. Your writing has that penetrating haiku quality about it. The above post on tears brings tears of joy and tears of grief immediately to the clarity of authenticity. As a man who learned to cry the hard way, I recognize in you a beautiful sojourner. Surperb post! Peace MandT
