I Protest!!! Vigorously!!!!

  • Pink captures President Bush's callous disregard with heart-rending accuracy. This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
  • Jackson Brown's new song is fabulous! Lives in the Balance truly touches on the choices facing America today.
  • An Arlo Guthrie classic! You'd be amazed at how it fits our modern war ethics.
  • Bruce Hornsby's finest. We are treating the Katrina survivors the same way.
  • By Phil Ochs. Not what you'd think. He wrote it following the murder of three civil rights workers in the mid '60's. Still pertinent today, I fear.
  • This one's by Lindsay Buckingham. All hail the 4th estate!
  • Song by the late, great Harry Chapin. It references Vietman, but remains pithy.
  • By Bright Eyes. One of the best protest songs to come along in years.
  • From the musical, 1776.
Check it out - the reference may be Revolutionary War era, but the sentiment rocks!

The Fat Lady Sings

I would like to point out that this article was written by Liz - the proprietress of Blondsense. Along with writing, she crafts exquisite jewelry. This new law will affect her directly - as it will all of us who sew, knit, carve, or otherwise create items that may end up as gifts for or near children. I personally believe that manufacturers of bulk goods MUST have those goods tested before they end up on store shelves. But handcrafted items need to be dealt with differently. Do I want some idiot using lead paint on the wooden fire engines he carves to have a go by? No – so there should be a mechanism available for crafters to obtain certificates. Perhaps regional testing should be made available at low cost or some such – and nix this retroactive bullshit if it means throwing out the quilt grandma made 50 years ago. What in hell happened to reasonable in America? Why must it always be about extremes?

This is a Travesty that would have the Founding Fathers wanting to dig themselves up and march to DC over!
I hope these "Insane Ideas" have been repealed.
It occurred to me that having customers sign a "waver" of responsibility and "I solomnly swear that NO children will ever gnaw on this dress, handmade item, or product, so help me GOD"
but that would be ludicrous.
China has scoffed at US for years but this will have them rolling in the isles...utterly ridiculous!
Protest to state officials, US House of Lords and Regal US Senate if you must! Somehow this reminds me of California coming down on homeschoolers...if the end result product is BETTER, hang the one producing the better result!

HMMM...seems that when only lawyers make the law, we get extremes.
They don't seem to reason about consequences...on the other hand, 20,000 gun laws don't get observed by MS13 or other outlaw elements.
NO...writing 20,000 gun laws in Spanish is NOT the answer NOR is mandatory schooling...buy them books and they will just chew the covers off...
