The Dark Wraith Visits

Good evening.

The Fat Lady Sings invited me to be a guest blogger here, and I have gladly accepted the invitation.

Some of you may be familiar with my online publications; others among you may not. I am the Dark Wraith, publisher and host of my flagship blog, The Dark Wraith Forums, as well as the group Weblog called Big Brass Blog. I am also the editor and publisher of the blogScream News Wire Service.

Over the coming days, I shall give readers here a sampling from various types of articles and writing styles in my repertoire. First, fair warning must be given: my styles are not everyone's cup of tea. Articles can range from the very personal, exemplified by a story I published yesterday as a guest blogger at Pam's House Blend, to the very technical, as in my recent analysis of the relative costs of 20th and 21st Century wars in which the United States has engaged.

The Fat Lady Sings is an outstanding blogger. She has emerged as a strong, influential voice in a medium that has become simply overwhelmed with people trying to make their voices heard. Hers, however, is a voice that resonates with many; and as such, she is becoming a pillar of our progressive online community here in what I call Blogosphere Left 2.0. While the large, graffiti blogs have their devoted readerships, we here on the frontier have ours, too. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you have, by that very choice and preference, expressed a desire to look beyond the usual, the typical, and the all-too-often somewhat mundane.

I cannot replace The Fat Lady Sings, of course. We should all hope for her early return. Otherwise, you'll have to put up with way too many quirky posts here from the troubled blogger who has a penchant for referring to himself in the third person.

The Dark Wraith will return.

New addition!

We have another baby kitty!  My vet called me and said a tiny kitten had been dropped off at their clinic.  He was in sad shape - needed lots of care - but the vet saw to all his medical needs.  No one else wanted him, poor little thing - so I said what the hell - and now he's part of our family.  He joins the other two kittens we adopted last weekend.  Ah well - in for a penny, in for a pound I always say!  It was serendipitous, actually.  This baby kitty came into my life at exactly the right moment.  He's fluffy and black - with beautiful olive green eyes.  I've never seen a cat with eyes this particular shade of green.  Very pretty!  And sweet to boot.  He has a very deep purr – and a tendency to suck on my fingers.  The other kittens took him in instantly.  As for the rest of the horde – well - that will take a wee bit more time.  But patience always wins the day - and patience is something I'm not exactly short of.  So – allow me to introduce you all to Inky Dinky Do.  I think he’s fabulous!  As always - clicking on each picture opens it up!

And for good measure - here are my other two hooligans.  They really are the sweetest baby's!

Kilmouski's quite something!  He loves to explore and play with his feather toy.  He and our older cat Bear get along just great.  They play patty-paws under the bed!

And now we have a very special kitty.  This is Pumpkin (hat-tip to Hippie Chick Jude for the name).  Pumpkin is mommy's boy.  He starts purring loudly the minute he sees me.  He's fast as lightening - loves playing with his toys.  He's the bravest kitty - going right up to Weasel in the midst of a hiss and kissing his nose.  I adore all these new kittens - but Pumpkin holds a special place in my heart.

So - there we are.  And many of you think my cheese has completely slipped off its cracker.  Three kittens?  With adult cats and dogs already in residence?  But critters are like kids.  There really always is room for just one more.  If you think this looks a bit crowded - wait till I get into my retirement property.  I plan on adding chickens, geese and goats to the mix.  Won't that be fun? 

Perfect Post

Additions To Site

So - as you can see I've added a few things.  I am now set up to accommodate any advertisers that may want to showcase their wares.  Also - I am including a Tip Jar in an attempt to defray some of this cost.  Coming, but not yet configured will be The Fat Lady Sings Podcast - that’s something hubby is helping with and should be up and running soon.

I will also be tinkering a bit with the overall look.  Typepad came equipped with the current layout, which was all fine and good; except it is just a tad boring.  When I ran my own Theatre Company, hubby and I designed the website from the ground up.  We hope to find the time to do that here as well.

Anyway - let me know what you think as this, that and the other gets its make-over.  Keep in mind we are talking SLOW moving here; the luxury of time is something in rather short supply I’m afraid.  It’s more like grabbing the odd hour or two on a weekend afternoon.  Also - keep your eyes open for a brand new link.  I am planning to blog some of my fiction.  The whys and wherefores will soon become apparent - so remember to check in on occasion!
